Eagle Mountain and Nittetsu Mining expand partnership to hunt new mineral assets

Eagle Mountain Mining and Japan's Nittetsu Mining have signed a two-year agreement to jointly evaluate and acquire mineral assets across North America and Australia, a strategic expansion that pairs Nittetsu's technical and financial resources with Eagle Mountain's regional footprint.

Eagle Mountain Mining has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Japan’s Nittetsu Mining to jointly assess and potentially acquire new mineral projects. The agreement establishes a 24-month framework for the companies to evaluate opportunities together, building on their existing collaboration at the Oracle Ridge project in Arizona.

The two companies will target a broad spectrum of critical and industrial minerals, focusing primarily on copper, gold, lead, lithium, nickel, silver and zinc. Their search will concentrate on assets located in Australia and North America, spanning the entire development curve from early-stage exploration to producing mines.

For investors, the deal represents a strategic widening of Eagle Mountain's footprint, pairing the company with a well-capitalized Japanese partner equipped with significant metallurgical research capabilities. Securing a partner like Nittetsu provides Eagle Mountain with technical validation and financial backing to pursue acquisitions in competitive western markets. Conversely, Nittetsu gains a trusted on-the-ground operator to help secure vital supply chain metals in politically stable jurisdictions.

The arrangement is non-exclusive and does not compel either party to proceed with any specific transaction, with non-circumvention clauses serving as the primary binding restriction. This structure allows both firms the flexibility to independently pursue other ventures while maintaining a low-risk pipeline of potential joint investments.

Executives from both sides emphasized the strategic value of collaboration in a highly competitive sector. Nittetsu overseas mineral resources business general manager Shinichiro Mita and Eagle Mountain executive director Fabio Vergara said: "Nittetsu and Eagle Mountain are keen to grow our partnership beyond Oracle Ridge. This agreement is testament to the quality of the people involved, the trust we have in each other and the understanding that by acting collaboratively we can achieve better outcomes in this competitive environment."

"We are looking forward to working together with our respective teams to identify, review and acquire new projects capable of adding value to both our companies," they added. This deepening commercial tie follows a recent trip by Vergara to Tokyo, where he visited Nittetsu's research and development center to analyze metallurgical samples from the Oracle Ridge project.
