Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, on Thursday, presented a N490.74 billion 2027 Appropriation Bill to the State House of Assembly, with a pledge to consolidate the achievements of his administration and drive sustained development across the State. The proposal christened the “Budget of Sustained Progress and Prosperity,” the proposed budget, which represents the first fiscal plan of the governor’s second term, earmarks N275.68 billion for recurrent expenditure and N215.05 billion for capital expenditure, representing a 56:44 recurrent-to-capital ratio. Presenting the estimates before the lawmakers in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji said the budget was designed to consolidate the administration’s infrastructural transformation while prioritising agriculture and food security, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, job creation and wealth creation. He said the proposed fiscal plan was anchored on the State Development Plan 2021-2050, the 2027-2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and the administration’s six-point agenda, adding that its preparation also took into account the needs expressed by citizens during town hall meetings across the three senatorial districts. The governor projected N139.85 billion from federal allocation, N89.13 billion from Value Added Tax, N59.71 billion as independent revenue, N158.68 billion from external grants, N10 billion loan, and N33.37 billion opening balance to finance the budget. Governor Oyebanji said the capital component would receive significant attention, with major allocations targeted at roads, water and sanitation, agriculture, healthcare, education, tourism and other critical infrastructure.
