Indian Equities Rebound on Easing Bond Yields, Breaking Seven-Day Losing Streak
Indian benchmark indices recovered on Thursday as stabilizing global bond markets and domestic short covering offset persistent crude oil risks, shifting investor focus to selective corporate developments.
Indian stock markets ended a seven-session losing streak on Thursday, with benchmark indices posting healthy gains amid stabilizing global financial conditions. The Nifty 50 rose 0.55 percent to close at 24,211, while the Sensex advanced 0.75 percent to 77,488. Broader markets also participated in the rally, with midcap and smallcap indices gaining 0.50 percent and 0.67 percent respectively.
The recovery was driven by strong buying in banking, non-banking financial companies, FMCG, and technology shares. Ajit Mishra, SVP of Research at Religare Broking, noted that stabilizing global bond markets following US Treasury buyback measures for long-duration debt eased yield concerns. A stronger rupee and short covering after the recent correction further supported the market rebound.
Despite the positive momentum, inflation and external-sector risks remain on investors’ radar. Brent crude prices stayed elevated near $94 per barrel due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
Corporate and Regulatory Developments

In the healthcare and hospitality sectors, KIMS signed an operations and management agreement to exclusively run the 250-bed Arete Hospital in Hyderabad. Lemon Tree Hotels expanded its Gujarat footprint with a new property in Bharuch, bringing its state portfolio to 12 locations.
