Ramaco Resources inks non-binding gallium and germanium supply pact with Indium Corp

Ramaco Resources has agreed to a non-binding supply memorandum with Indium Corporation for gallium and germanium, marking a strategic step toward securing domestic critical mineral supply chains for the U.S. semiconductor and defense sectors.

Ramaco Resources (NASDAQ: METC, METCB) announced a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Indium Corporation to supply gallium and germanium from its Brook mine project in Wyoming. The agreement outlines a preliminary framework to negotiate the potential delivery of these critical minerals as extraction and processing capabilities at the site continue to expand.

The Brook mine represents America’s first new rare earth element and critical mineral mine in more than 70 years. Ramaco describes the site near Sheridan as the nation’s largest unconventional deposit of these minerals sourced directly from coal and carbonaceous ore. Full-scale mining operations and the construction of a pilot processing facility are currently underway to support vertically integrated production of commercial oxides.

Clinton, New York-based Indium Corporation operates as a global materials refiner, smelter, and manufacturer. The company supplies specialized metals, solders, and thermal management products that are essential to the production of electronics, semiconductors, electric vehicles, and aerospace and defense systems. It holds specific expertise in refining and manufacturing high-performance, gallium- and germanium-based products used throughout the semiconductor value chain.

Securing a reliable domestic source for gallium and germanium addresses growing supply chain vulnerabilities for advanced technology sectors. Ramaco Resources CEO Randall Atkins stated that the memorandum demonstrates a promising opportunity to introduce Brook Mine output into established domestic and allied supply chains.

Atkins emphasized that combining Ramaco’s potential domestic resource base with Indium’s established presence in advanced technology manufacturing could strengthen material availability. He noted this proposed relationship would diversify the supply of elements that are increasingly critical to U.S. electronics, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing industries.

Market participants reacted favorably to the strategic alignment and its implications for domestic critical mineral independence. Ramaco Resources shares closed 3.97 percent higher on the NASDAQ following the announcement. The company currently holds a market capitalization of $698.8 million.
