Himadri stock hits 52-week high as materials pivot pays off
Himadri Speciality Chemicals surged to a 52-week high after record quarterly earnings validated its strategy of shifting from basic carbon black to high-margin advanced materials.
Himadri Speciality Chemicals rose as much as 2% to ₹791.40 on Tuesday, marking a fresh 52-week high and extending a winning streak to nine consecutive sessions. The rally follows the July 15 release of its first-quarter results, which showed significant margin expansion driven by a deliberate move up the value chain.
For the quarter ending in June, consolidated net profit climbed 27.4% year-on-year to ₹228.43 crore. Total income surged 30% to ₹1,488.19 crore, underpinned by what the company described as its highest-ever quarterly revenue of ₹1,432 crore and EBITDA of ₹313 crore.
The financial improvement matters to investors because it demonstrates that Himadri is successfully executing its diversification away from commodity products. The company is actively expanding its fully integrated carbon black platform into specialized, technology-intensive segments.
New capacity in high-growth markets
To cement this transition, Himadri announced two new projects focusing on super speciality carbon black (SSCB) and carbon nanotube (CNT) technology. The company is investing ₹70 crore into a 200 MTPA CNT facility, slated for commissioning by the fourth quarter of this financial year.
Entering the CNT market will place Himadri among a limited number of global manufacturers. The material is critical for next-generation industries, with applications in lithium-ion batteries, semiconductors, electronics, and aerospace. Chairman and Managing Director Anurag Choudhary attributed the quarterly outperformance to an improved product mix and the continued ramp-up of specialty materials, despite global geopolitical headwinds.
“It reflects sustained execution of our diversification strategy, our shift up the value chain toward higher-margin, technology-intensive products, and the growing traction of our global partnerships in advanced materials,” Choudhary said. “We remain focused on scaling momentum as we progress towards our long-term vision of becoming a diversified, future-ready, global advanced materials and application-driven solution company.”
The market has aggressively priced in this strategic pivot. Over the past week, the stock has gained 17%, while year-to-date returns stand at 62%. Long-term shareholders have seen exceptional compounding, with the stock rising 54.52% over the past year and delivering a 1,416% return over five years.
