The Anambra State Government has planned the establishment of a modular refinery as part of expanding into Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) production in the state. Charles Ofoegbu, Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, disclosed this at the weekend in Awka when he received members of the National Association of LPG Marketers, Anambra State Chapter, who paid him a visit at his office. Ofoegbu said the state government, under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, was committed to sanitising the petroleum and gas sector and creating an enabling environment for investment. He urged Ndi Anambra and other prospective investors interested in establishing gas-processing plants to take advantage of the emerging opportunities in the sector. The commissioner assured investors that the state government was ready to support them with access to gas supply for their plants. Responding to the association’s request for a workshop, Ofoegbu stressed the importance of such engagements, particularly those aimed at addressing challenges confronting operators and promoting safety in the LPG sector. Earlier, Daniel Madueke, the state chairman of the National Association of LPG Marketers, said the delegation visited the commissioner to seek approval for a workshop on LPG safety and operations.
