Foreign inflows in Asian bonds surge to seven-month high in June

Asian bonds saw their largest foreign inflows in seven months during June. Lower oil prices and strong technology demand improved the region's economic outlook. Investors bought over eleven billion dollars in regional bonds, seeking safer fixed-income assets. South Korean and Indian bonds recorded substantial net foreign purchases. Indonesian bonds attracted significant cross-border inflows, driven by attractive yields.

Germany's borrowing costs have surged to their highest level in fifteen years, influenced by increased security threats following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Finance Ministry emphasizes the necessity for substantial investments in defense and security. Meanwhile, bond yields in other leading Western nations have also risen sharply this week, complicating fiscal policies and raising borrowing costs for both businesses and consumers.
