Strive adds $143 million in Bitcoin amid renewed corporate crypto accumulation

Asset manager Strive acquired $143 million in Bitcoin to expand its corporate treasury, highlighting a broader resumption of digital asset accumulation by public companies following a strong monthly rally.

Strive acquired 1,800 Bitcoin for approximately $143 million, paying an average price of $79,431 per coin. Chief Executive Matt Cole confirmed the transaction expands the firm's total holdings to 23,156 Bitcoin, a stash currently valued at roughly $1.76 billion.

The latest acquisition leaves the company's most recent tranche trading near break-even, as Bitcoin hovered around $78,600 on Monday. This follows a recent $81 million Bitcoin purchase funded through a share sale, demonstrating a steady cadence of capital deployment by the asset manager.

Strive’s expansion arrives as public companies restart their digital asset accumulation following a robust summer rally in the crypto sector. Bitcoin is positioned to close August with a gain exceeding 24 percent, marking its strongest monthly performance since 2017 and providing a favorable backdrop for corporate buyers.

The renewed corporate appetite is evident across the broader market, with peer firms also returning to accumulate digital assets. Strategy, the corporate treasury pioneer founded by Michael Saylor, executed a $370 million Bitcoin purchase this week after pausing its buying for roughly two months.

That specific purchase by Strategy marked its first acquisition since June, occurring after a recent price run-up flipped its existing position back into profit. Meanwhile, Tom Lee’s Bitmine completed its largest Ethereum acquisition since June, highlighting a cross-asset resurgence in corporate treasury activity.

These coordinated moves underscore how publicly traded entities are once again leveraging capital markets to tie their balance sheets directly to cryptocurrency performance. Strive operates under its Nasdaq ticker ASST following an earlier merger with Asset Entities, utilizing this exact model to build out its reserves.

While the approach pioneered by Saylor has drawn a crowded field of imitators over the past year, it carries inherent risks due to extreme price volatility. Despite these fluctuations, Strive was initially co-founded by entrepreneur and politician Vivek Ramaswamy and remains committed to its aggressive accumulation strategy.

The firm's ongoing purchases now place it among the largest corporate holders of the digital currency. Investors will be watching closely to see if the current market momentum sustains the valuations of these heavily leveraged treasury vehicles.

The timing of these corporate purchases suggests that management teams view current price levels as an attractive entry point for long-term balance sheet allocation. As August closes with substantial gains, market analysts will scrutinize whether this renewed buying pressure can maintain the recent upward trajectory.
