Ghana developer Devtraco Plus targets Nigerian capital for Accra real estate

Ghanaian developer Devtraco Plus has launched a campaign to attract high-net-worth Nigerian investors to Accra's property market, highlighting currency hedging and geographic diversification amid domestic economic pressures.

Ghanaian luxury property developer Devtraco Plus has officially entered the Nigerian market to channel high-net-worth domestic capital into Accra’s real estate sector. Announced at a Lagos press briefing, the initiative positions the Ghanaian capital as a strategic alternative for investors seeking geographic and currency diversification.

The push underscores a broader trend of cross-border capital flows within West Africa as domestic economic pressures mount. By targeting Nigerian wealth, Devtraco Plus aims to capitalize on the search for stable stores of value outside a volatile domestic currency environment.

Sandra Mudzimba, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer for the Devtraco Group, argued that cross-border investment allows wealth creators to spread risk. “For investors who have built successful businesses, property portfolios, and other investments in Nigeria, there is value in considering opportunities beyond one economy, one currency, and one market,” she stated.

Mudzimba also highlighted Ghana’s political stability, robust legal frameworks, and its role as the host of the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat. She noted that Accra is less than an hour’s flight from Lagos, making physical asset management highly convenient for Nigerian buyers.

Dapo Macaulay, Country Manager for Devtraco Plus Nigeria, described the expansion as a structured gateway for these cross-border transactions. “For many Nigerians, real estate has always represented a trusted store of value,” Macaulay noted.

He added that this mindset is now extending internationally as buyers seek strong fundamentals and long-term value creation. Ewurabena Braye, Head of Sales at Devtraco Plus, stressed that safety and proven execution remain the primary concerns for overseas buyers.

Backed by over three decades of experience and roughly 1,800 delivered homes, the firm offers end-to-end construction and property management. “When you think about diversifying your portfolio, you have to think about an investment that will give you good return on investment and capital appreciation—but number one is safety and security,” Braye highlighted.

She pointed to Ghana’s low inflation and reduced economic pressure as key market advantages for international capital. The developer is specifically targeting demand from diaspora communities, international corporations, NGOs, and diplomatic missions.

This demand is concentrated in prime Accra neighborhoods such as Cantonments and Roman Ridge. Purchasing in these areas offers Nigerian investors access to dollar-denominated rental yields, providing a direct hedge against domestic currency volatility.
