Sebi proposes scrapping merchant banker requirement rule for small-ticket debt via private placement
Sebi has put forth a proposal to exempt small-value debt issuances from the requirement of appointing merchant bankers. This initiative is designed to lower compliance costs and foster market growth for listed companies. To qualify, issuers must be regulated and have been listed for a minimum of one year, along with providing an auditor’s certificate to confirm no recent defaults.
