Brazil Overtakes Mexico as Latin America’s Top FDI Destination in 2026
Brazil received US$46.99 billion of foreign direct investment in the first half of 2026, about US$12 billion more than Mexico's record US$34.97 billion, vaulting past its rival as Latin America's top FDI destination. The Mexican record rests overwhelmingly on recycled profits: 88.5% was reinvested earnings and only 7.8% was new investment, the Economy Ministry confirmed.
