Suzano Removes Three Vice-Presidents in Strategic Executive Reorganisation

Brazilian pulp giant Suzano has removed three vice-presidents and redrawn its industrial leadership structure, signaling a strategic consolidation of operations alongside its recent second-quarter financial results.

Brazilian pulp and paper giant Suzano has removed three vice-presidents from its executive team following a board of directors meeting on 12 August 2026. The restructuring was formally disclosed in company minutes released on 21 August, just days after the firm published its second-quarter earnings.

The shake-up centers on the departure of Aires Galhardo, Executive Vice-President for Industrial Pulp, Engineering and Energy. His resignation, announced to Brazil’s securities regulator on 4 August, becomes effective on 28 August. Additionally, Caroline Carpenedo and Luís Renato Costa Bueno have stepped down from their non-statutory roles as Vice-President of Human Resources and Vice-President of Consumer Goods and Corporate Relations, respectively.

In response, the board has expanded the remit of current Executive Vice-President Carlos Aníbal Fernandes de Almeida Júnior. He will assume Galhardo’s industrial responsibilities, with the newly drawn portfolio now encompassing Supply, Certification Strategy, and FuturaGene. Notably, DigitalTech and New Business have been stripped from this industrial mandate.

The DigitalTech unit has been merged into the Finance and Investor Relations area. Marcos Moreno Chagas Assumpção now heads this combined statutory executive vice-presidency, centralizing technological and financial oversight.

The timing of these leadership changes indicates careful coordination with Suzano’s financial reporting calendar. The initial departure notice preceded the 13 August release of the company’s second-quarter results, suggesting the reorganization was designed to align with the firm’s operational and financial rhythm.

During that second quarter of 2026, Suzano reported net revenue of R$ 11.6 billion and an adjusted EBITDA of R$ 4.7 billion. Net profit reached R$ 1.8 billion, supported by total sales volumes of 3.3 million tonnes, including 2.9 million tonnes of pulp and 406,000 tonnes of paper.

This executive streamlining occurs against a backdrop of massive capacity expansion for the world’s largest pulp producer. The company’s installed capacity recently climbed to 13.45 million tonnes per year following the July 2024 launch of the R$ 22.2 billion Projeto Cerrado mill in Mato Grosso do Sul.

While the new statutory structure is now in place, Suzano has not yet named successors for the two vacant non-statutory positions. The reshuffle ultimately reflects a broader effort to consolidate core industrial operations and digital finance functions as the company manages its expanded global footprint.
