Global Market: Japan core inflation accelerates in July, strengthening case for BOJ rate hike
Japan’s core inflation rose to 1.8% in July from 1.6% in June, in line with market expectations, strengthening bets that the Bank of Japan could raise interest rates at its September meeting. However, inflation remained below the BOJ’s 2% target for a seventh straight month, partly due to government fuel subsidies.
