Investors Face Friday Deadline for Indian Dividend Eligibility
Under India’s T+1 settlement cycle, market participants must execute trades today to qualify for upcoming corporate payouts, highlighting the compressed window for dividend capture strategies.
Investors targeting dividend payouts from Indian equities must purchase shares today to ensure eligibility. Under the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s T+1 settlement cycle, trades must occur at least one day before the record date. This makes Friday the final trading opportunity for shares to be credited to demat accounts ahead of the August 24 deadline.
Settlement Mechanics and Corporate Payouts
Among the notable names, jewellery retailer Senco Gold has set August 24 as its record date. The company declared a final dividend of 1 rupee per share, with a face value of 5 rupees, for the 2026 financial year. This adds to five previous payouts since November 2023, though the stock currently carries a modest dividend yield of 0.22 percent.
Despite the income distribution, Senco Gold shares have faced recent selling pressure. The stock has fallen more than 7 percent over the past month and roughly 4 percent in the past week. However, it remains up 7 percent year-to-date and has delivered 67 percent returns over a three-year horizon.
National Aluminium Company (NALCO) also approaches its ex-dividend date with a final payout of 1 rupee per share for the 2026 financial year. This follows three interim dividends of 4 rupees, 4.50 rupees, and 2 rupees per share. The cumulative payout for the year ended March 31, 2026, reaches 11.50 rupees per share.
NALCO offers a more substantial dividend yield of 3.36 percent, backed by a history of 55 dividend declarations since August 2000. Despite a weekly decline of over 3 percent, the metals major has seen its shares gain 13 percent over the past month and 23 percent in 2026. Over a longer horizon, the stock has generated returns of 428 percent across five years.
Gillette India leads the absolute payout values for this cycle, distributing 60 rupees per share to eligible shareholders. Several other firms are also turning ex-dividend on Monday, including International Gemological Institute at 2.55 rupees per share and Naturewings Holidays at 1.6 rupees per share. Smaller distributions are scheduled for India Pesticides, Pudumjee Paper Products, GK Energy, SJVN, and AMJ Land Holdings.
The compressed timeline underscores the operational reality of India’s accelerated settlement framework. For income-focused portfolios, this requires precise trade execution, as missing the Friday cutoff automatically disqualifies investors from the upcoming corporate actions.
