Webull stock surges: 5 things to know about its Q2 earnings

Webull shares surged in after-hours trading after the brokerage reported record Q2 2026 revenue of $198.8 million, up 51% year-on-year, while adjusted operating profit jumped 169%. Record equity and options trading volumes, higher customer assets and the removal of the PDT rule drove the strong performance.

Webull reported second-quarter revenue of $198.8 million, marking a 51% year-on-year increase and exceeding Wall Street estimates of about $165.7 million. Trading-related revenue was the biggest contributor, rising 66% to $147.7 million.

The brokerage also delivered a strong earnings performance, with adjusted operating profit climbing 169% year-on-year to $62.6 million. Its adjusted operating margin reached 31.5%, reflecting stronger operating leverage as revenue growth outpaced expenses.

A surge in equity and options activity powered Webull's quarterly performance. Equity notional trading volume jumped 73% year-on-year to $279 billion, while options volume rose 68% to 213 million contracts. Webull said it entered the top five U.S. retail options brokers during the quarter.

The removal of the Pattern Day Trader (PDT) rule on June 4 emerged as a major catalyst for Webull. The change allowed more frequent trading by customers and contributed to higher equity and options activity during the quarter.

Webull's customer assets increased 79% year-on-year to $28.5 billion. The company also recorded $1.6 billion in quarterly net deposits, while average assets per customer account climbed to more than $5,500, highlighting continued growth in its customer base and engagement.

The combination of a revenue beat, stronger-than-expected earnings, record trading volumes and expanding margins triggered a sharp after-hours rally in Webull shares. Reports showed the stock gaining roughly 11%-15% after the earnings release as investors reacted to the company's record quarter.

Webull's Q2 performance shows the potential benefits of higher trading activity, growing customer assets and the PDT rule change. However, sustaining the momentum will depend on whether elevated trading volumes persist, while the company continues investing in international expansion, institutional offerings and new technology.
