Indian Equities Poised for Strong Open Following Drop in US Treasury Yields
Indian benchmark indices are projected to open significantly higher as easing US Treasury yields improve global risk appetite, prompting analysts to outline key technical thresholds for domestic markets.
Indian equity markets are positioned for a robust opening following a positive shift in global macroeconomic conditions. Easing US Treasury yields have renewed risk appetite, driving the Gift Nifty to trade around 24,275. This level indicates a gap-up start of approximately 200 points above the previous closing value of the spot Nifty 50.
The correlation between American borrowing costs and emerging market flows remains a critical driver for Indian equities. As global yields moderate, foreign institutional investors typically reallocate capital toward higher-growth environments, providing immediate upward momentum to key domestic benchmarks at the opening bell.
Despite the optimistic opening, technical indicators suggest underlying vulnerability in the broader index. Vaishali Parekh, Vice President of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher, notes that the Nifty 50 has recently slipped below its 50-period exponential moving average at 24,190.
Maintaining the overall trend will require the index to hold the critical support zone near 23,800. Conversely, buyers must push the benchmark past the 24,400 resistance level to establish meaningful conviction for sustained upward movement in the coming sessions.
The financial sector index presents a more constrained near-term picture. The Bank Nifty is currently consolidating within a tight range around its 50-period exponential moving average at 57,200, warranting a cautious stance from traders awaiting a decisive breakout.
Parekh identifies firm resistance at the 58,600 level, while major support rests at the 100-period moving average of 56,000. Sustaining this lower threshold is essential to prevent a deeper correction in banking stocks.
Selective Equity Opportunities
Amidst broader index consolidation, specific equities are showing favorable risk-reward setups. Parekh recommends accumulating JSW Steel at ₹1,285, with a price target of ₹1,350 and a stop loss at ₹1,260.
In the financial services space, Policy Bazaar is advised as a buy at ₹1,782, targeting ₹1,845 with a stop loss of ₹1,745. Additionally, Avalon Technologies is projected to move higher from a buy entry of ₹2,245, aiming for ₹2,320 while maintaining a stop loss at ₹2,200.
