Arista Networks AI backlog triples to $9.7 billion on strong Q2 earnings

Arista Networks reported a near tripling of its AI fabric backlog to $9.7 billion alongside a revenue beat, signaling robust demand for non-GPU networking infrastructure in the artificial intelligence buildout.

Arista Networks reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue exceeding $3 billion on August 4, marking a 37.7 percent increase from the previous year. The company posted non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.02, beating analyst estimates of $0.89 and extending its streak of consecutive earnings beats to five.

The most significant metric for investors was the near tripling of the company's multi-year purchase commitments. AI fabric backlog reached approximately $9.7 billion by the end of the second quarter, up from $3.6 billion a year prior, highlighting sustained hyperscaler demand for Ethernet-based networking.

Management raised its full-year revenue guidance to $12.6 billion, implying 40 percent annual growth, while pushing its specific AI fabrics target to at least $3.5 billion. Chief Executive Jayshree Ullal noted the expanding footprint, stating, "Our AI fabrics momentum with EtherLink switches now exceeds 100 cumulative customers from the initial four to five customers I spoke of in 2024."

This growth is underpinned by the 7060XE7 platform, which offers 100 terabit capacity, 1.6 terabit throughput, and initial liquid cooling capabilities. The shift toward Ethernet-based fabrics represents a structural change in how hyperscalers build out massive computing clusters.

By standardizing on these networking solutions, major technology companies are ensuring their accelerator hardware operates at maximum efficiency. While market attention frequently centers on graphics processing units, networking specialists like Arista are capturing substantial value in the underlying infrastructure connecting artificial intelligence clusters.

Arista is not alone in benefiting from this connectivity boom across the semiconductor sector. Broadcom reported a 143 percent surge in AI semiconductor revenue to $10.8 billion in its latest quarter, while Marvell raised its fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to $11.5 billion amid accelerating interconnect demand.

Marvell's stock has gained 176 percent year to date as the company capitalizes on this accelerating interconnect demand. Shares of Arista closed at $201.80, reflecting a 54.01 percent year-to-date gain and a 19.68 percent increase over the past month.

Analyst sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive, with 97 percent of coverage classified as bullish. The consensus includes 29 buy or strong buy ratings, zero sell recommendations, and an average price target of $241.82.
