HDFC AMC posts 12 percent profit jump as assets under management reach 93.5 lakh crore
HDFC Asset Management Company delivered a 12 percent increase in first-quarter net profit driven by robust expansion in its asset base, reinforcing its dominant position in India's active equity fund sector.
Mumbai-based HDFC Asset Management Company delivered a 12 percent year-on-year increase in first-quarter consolidated net profit, reaching ₹837 crore. Consolidated revenue from operations climbed 13.6 percent to ₹1,100 crore, advancing from ₹968 crore in the same period last year. Operating profit also expanded to ₹827.6 crore, up from ₹753.4 crore a year earlier.
Total expenses during the quarter rose 27 percent to ₹271 crore. Despite the higher cost base, the company maintained strong profitability margins, translating the top-line growth into solid bottom-line gains for the first quarter of the 2027 financial year.
The earnings beat was underpinned by significant growth in the company's overall asset base. Quarterly average assets under management reached ₹93.51 lakh crore, an increase from ₹82.86 lakh crore a year ago. This expansion secured HDFC AMC an 11.2 percent share of the broader mutual fund industry's assets.
The firm's footprint in actively managed equity funds, excluding index products, remained particularly strong. This segment generated ₹57.40 lakh crore in quarterly average assets under management, capturing a 12.8 percent market share. The results highlight the company's continued leadership as one of India's largest active equity fund managers.
Retail participation continues to be a primary growth engine for the asset manager. Individual investors accounted for 69 percent of the company's total average monthly assets under management in June 2026, significantly outpacing the 61 percent industry average. Furthermore, the company's equity-to-non-equity asset mix stood at 66:34, compared to the broader industry ratio of 57:43.
Steady retail inflows were evident in the company's systematic investment channels. HDFC AMC processed 17.2 million systematic transactions in June 2026 alone. These flows carried a total value of ₹4,810 crore, demonstrating sustained momentum in regular investment plans.
Following the results, HDFC AMC shares closed 2.42 percent higher at ₹2,722.70 on the BSE. Market technicians note that the stock has been consolidating within a ₹2,642 to ₹2,838 range since the start of July.
