Technocraft Ventures lists on Indian bourses after 65x NII oversubscription

The infrastructure firm's shares begin trading on BSE and NSE today following heavy institutional demand and a grey-market premium pointing to a near-19% first-day gain.

Technocraft Ventures, an Indian infrastructure company, began trading on both the BSE and NSE on Friday after its shares were listed in a special pre-open session at 10:00 IST. The BSE placed the stock in its 'B' Group of Securities, with allotment having been finalised two days earlier on Wednesday.

The listing caps a heavily oversubscribed public offering. The IPO, open for bidding from 7 to 11 August, drew non-institutional investors at 65.06 times the shares on offer and qualified institutional buyers at 42.26 times. Retail investors subscribed 25.35 times, and by the third day of the window the issue was already covered 38.69 times.

The price band was set at ₹200 to ₹212 per share, with a face value of ₹10 and a lot size of 70 shares. Allocation followed the standard Indian framework: up to 50% for QIBs, at least 15% for NIIs and at least 35% for retail bidders.

Grey-market signals point to a premium debut

In the unregulated grey market, the stock carried a premium of ₹40 over the upper price band on listing morning, implying a debut price around ₹252, or roughly 18.9% above the ₹212 issue price. Over the preceding 14 sessions the premium had climbed from as low as zero, signalling building optimism ahead of the debut.

Analysts counsel caution after the pop

Mahesh M. Ojha, vice-president for research and business development at Kantilal Chhaganlal Securities, suggested that short-term holders and allottees consider booking partial profits if the stock delivers the expected 15–18% listing gain. He added that medium- and long-term investors could retain positions given the favourable infrastructure outlook and strong execution visibility, while urging fresh buyers to wait for post-listing price stabilisation rather than chase the shares on day one.

Tushar Badjate, director at Badjate Stocks and Shares, argued that Technocraft Ventures looks more compelling on fundamentals at its IPO valuation than comparable listings. He noted that while peer LEAP India offers a more differentiated model and attractive long-term industry prospects, its valuation was comparatively demanding. On listing gains specifically, Badjate said Technocraft's mix of reasonable pricing, earnings growth and positive grey-market momentum gave it the edge.

What it signals for the market

The subscription pattern, with NIIs leading demand well ahead of institutions and retail, underscores sustained appetite among Indian investors for infrastructure exposure. A successful debut at or near the grey-market estimate would reinforce that sentiment and could shape pricing expectations for the next tranche of Indian IPOs in the sector.
