India's Yotta plans Rs 8,000 crore IPO to fund Nvidia AI infrastructure

Indian data centre operator Yotta is preparing an initial public offering of up to 8,000 crore rupees to finance a massive expansion of Nvidia-powered artificial intelligence infrastructure, joining a wave of sector peers seeking public capital to meet surging computational demand.

Yotta is preparing to raise between 6,000 crore and 8,000 crore rupees through an initial public offering. The Indian data centre operator has appointed Kotak Mahindra Capital, ICICI Securities and SBI Capital Markets as book-running lead managers for the upcoming issue.

The public market debut is part of a broader corporate strategy to secure 15,000 crore rupees in total funding through a combination of private and public capital. Last month, the company successfully closed a pre-IPO round that raised $150 million from non-institutional investors, establishing a valuation of roughly $3.9 billion for the business.

This newly raised capital will primarily finance a massive hardware expansion designed to support advanced computational workloads. Over the next two years, Yotta plans to invest $2 billion to deploy the latest artificial intelligence chips from Nvidia across its data centre network, signaling a major pivot toward high-performance computing infrastructure.

For institutional investors, the planned listing represents a rare opportunity to gain direct exposure to the physical backbone of the artificial intelligence boom in Asia. The intense capital requirements of the modern AI infrastructure sector mean that building and upgrading facilities to handle complex machine learning tasks demands enormous upfront investments.

Because private funding is often insufficient for such heavy expenditure, regional operators are increasingly forced to rely on public markets to scale their operations. Yotta is now joining a growing queue of Indian data centre companies targeting public equity to fund these expensive infrastructure expansions.

Domestic peer Sify Infinit Spaces is also moving to tap the public markets to raise its own expansion capital. Meanwhile, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres is reportedly considering its own stock market listing later this year, suggesting a broader capital-raising wave across the regional sector.

The success of these initial public offerings will serve as a crucial benchmark for the broader technology infrastructure market. If Yotta and its peers can achieve strong pricing, it will likely accelerate further institutional investment into Asian data centre real estate and hardware over the coming decade.
