Exxon's Fifth Guyana FPSO Departs for 250,000 Bpd Start

The departure of ExxonMobil’s Errea Wittu vessel from Singapore puts Guyana on track to surpass one million barrels per day of oil production by 2026, cementing its status as a premier global energy frontier.

The Errea Wittu floating production, storage, and offloading vessel has left Singapore, bound for the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana. Built by MODEC, the unit is the fifth and largest FPSO deployed by operator ExxonMobil and its partners, Hess Corporation and CNOOC. The consortium expects the vessel to reach Guyanese waters and begin production in 2026.

Once operational at the Uaru field, the Errea Wittu will add roughly 250,000 barrels per day of oil capacity. The facility is also engineered to treat 540 million cubic feet of gas daily and inject 350,000 barrels of water per day. This technical scale is set to significantly bolster the output of a basin that has rapidly become a cornerstone of global supply growth.

ExxonMobil confirmed on November 12, 2025, that its three active Guyana FPSOs—Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, and Payara—had collectively hit 900,000 barrels per day. The Errea Wittu represents the fifth major development in the block, following a series of progressively larger and more complex vessels. The addition of this 250,000 barrel-per-day capacity will push the consortium’s total footprint well past the one million barrel threshold.

The scaling output carries direct implications for global crude supply and Guyana’s fiscal trajectory. The country’s GDP has already experienced explosive growth driven by oil revenues. Under the existing production sharing agreement, the government receives a significant share of profits alongside royalties, capitalizing on a fleet of industrial facilities that are funding a national infrastructure buildout of hospitals, schools, highways, and a deep-water port.

Market participants will view the vessel’s departure as a de-risking event for the Uaru project. The April 2023 final investment decision targeted a 2026 startup, and the transit from Singapore keeps that timeline firmly intact. As the Errea Wittu—named after the Warrau word for "abundance"—makes its way to the deep waters of the Atlantic, the Stabroek consortium is on track to deliver another major volume of crude to international markets.
