Lohia Corp IPO prices at discount to capital goods peers

Kanpur-based machinery maker Lohia Corp is seeking a public listing at a price-earnings multiple of 23, significantly below comparable capital goods stocks.

Lohia Corp has set the valuation for its upcoming initial public offering at a price-earnings multiple of 23. This figure is calculated using the company's post-IPO equity and its projected net profit for the fiscal year ending March 2026.

Valuation Gap

This pricing places the machinery manufacturer well below the valuation range of other engineering and capital goods companies serving industrial clients. Peer groups such as Jyoti CNC Automation and LMW currently trade at price-earnings multiples between 53 and 131. Lohia Corp does not have a direct publicly listed comparable, which complicates exact benchmarking for prospective investors trying to assess the offering.

Market Position

Despite being incorporated only in 2023, the Kanpur-based firm has established a dominant position in its specific niche. A Frost & Sullivan report indicates Lohia Corp holds a 40.7% value share of the domestic woven raffia machinery market for the current financial year. The company's global manufacturing footprint includes six facilities, with four located in India and single plants in the United States and Italy.

Cyclical Exposure

Lohia Corp produces equipment used to manufacture polypropylene and high-density polyethylene woven fabrics and sacks, along with related spare parts. Its product line spans tape extrusion lines, circular looms, coating and lamination lines, printing and conversion machines, multifilament yarn machines, and twister winders. Because these end products are heavily utilized in the agriculture, textile, and construction sectors, the company's revenue is inherently cyclical.

Its financial performance remains tied to external variables including crop prices, weather conditions, fertilizer costs, and broader real estate activity. For market participants, the central question is whether this steep valuation discount adequately compensates for Lohia Corp's cyclical risk profile. Investors must weigh the company's leading domestic market share against these macroeconomic sensitivities and overall economic conditions.
