Sotefin Bharat BSE SME listing seen flat despite strong IPO demand

Automated parking provider Sotefin Bharat debuts on the BSE SME platform today, but a disconnect between its rapid earnings growth and flat grey market premiums highlights cautious pricing in the niche infrastructure segment.

Sotefin Bharat begins trading on the BSE SME platform today, marking the culmination of an Rs 89.76 crore initial public offering. The company issued 48 lakh fresh equity shares with a price band of Rs 178 to Rs 187. While the institutional structure was handled by book-running lead manager Choice Capital Advisors and registrar Bigshare Services, grey market indicators point to a flat debut for the newly listed stock.

This anticipated muted opening presents a stark contrast to the robust demand the issue attracted during its five-day subscription window in July. The overall issue was subscribed 3.78 times. Non-institutional investors showed the highest appetite, bidding 4.74 times their allocated quota. Qualified institutional buyers submitted bids amounting to 2.82 times their portion, while the retail category was covered 3.78 times. Retail applicants were required to bid for a minimum of two lots, equating to 1,200 shares or an investment of Rs 2,24,400 at the upper price band.

The strong subscription metrics were largely driven by the company’s accelerating financial performance in a specialized urban infrastructure segment. For the financial year ended March 31, 2026, Sotefin Bharat reported a 25.6% increase in total income, reaching Rs 118.23 crore compared to Rs 94.15 crore in FY25. Profitability scaled even faster, with net profit surging 53.6% to Rs 17.37 crore from Rs 11.31 crore in the prior year.

The firm specializes in mechanized and automated parking solutions, utilizing SILOMAT Shuttle and Dolly technology proprietary to Sotefin SA. Its project portfolio includes robotic, puzzle, tower, and stack parking systems. As of late March, the company had completed more than 55 projects and was executing over 30 additional contracts. Its geographic reach spans major Indian metro areas like Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune, alongside international projects in the United States and Dubai.

IPO capital is being deployed to convert this growing order book into physical capacity. The company is allocating Rs 20.13 crore to establish a new manufacturing facility in Kolkata, West Bengal, alongside Rs 8.17 crore for new office premises. For market professionals, the disconnect between the company's high-margin growth trajectory and its flat listing premium highlights the pricing discipline currently governing the SME segment. Choice Equity Broking, acting as the designated market maker, will be responsible for managing early trading volatility as the stock establishes its fair value.
