Wellington, Vanguard, Blackstone debut public-private funds

A new joint venture between three of the world's largest asset managers is bringing blended public and private market strategies to retail investors, accelerating a structural shift in how individual capital accesses alternatives.

Wellington Management, Vanguard, and Blackstone have launched the first two interval funds from their year-old product development collaboration. The vehicles, named the WVB All Markets Fund and the WVB Blackstone All Privates Fund, provide individual investors with a simplified mechanism to allocate capital across both traditional and private markets.

The WVB All Markets Fund, originally filed with the SEC last May, will trade under tickers WVBIX, WVBAX, and WVBMX. Its portfolio is constructed to hold between 40% and 60% in Wellington’s active public equities. Vanguard’s core-plus bond strategy will account for 15% to 30% of assets, while Blackstone’s perpetual private markets platform will take the remaining 25% to 40% slice.

The companion product, the WVB Blackstone All Privates Fund, was filed with regulators in December. Rather than blending public and private assets, this fund offers a single allocation that targets private equity, private infrastructure, private real estate, and private credit strategies exclusively through Blackstone's platform.

The alliance merges distinct industry leaders. Wellington manages $1.3 trillion across multiple asset classes, Vanguard is the world's largest ETF issuer, and Blackstone is the biggest alternative asset manager. For market professionals, the launch validates the viability of joint ventures designed to break down the historical barriers that have kept retail capital out of private markets.

"The WVB interval fund series represents three powerhouse brands and is designed to open up private markets investing for investors who have little to no alts investment exposure," wrote Kimberly Flynn, president at XA Investments, in an email. Flynn tracks the interval fund and tender offer fund sectors closely.

"The public/private segment of the interval fund market is fairly new, with Capital Group / KKR leading the way with their two public/private credit funds that launched in 2025," Flynn noted. "Based on XA Investments' interval fund market research, we anticipate the WVB interval fund launch to accelerate this trend. A number of public/private market asset blends are in the SEC registration process now and should launch in the next six to nine months, including the recently filed T. Rowe/Goldman Sachs All Equity Access fund."
