India Q1 Earnings: Banks, Oil Marketers, and Eternal in Focus

Sixty-three Indian companies, including major lenders and oil marketers, are reporting June quarter earnings today, offering critical signals on how rising oil prices and fierce deposit competition are impacting corporate India.

Sixty-three Indian companies are set to report June quarter earnings today, marking a pivotal day in the current reporting season. The roster spans major sectors, headlined by IndusInd Bank, Nestle, and two Adani Group energy subsidiaries, Adani Green Energy and Adani Power.

Investors are parsing these results for signs of stress from macroeconomic headwinds, a task made urgent by sharp market reactions to yesterday's releases. Bandhan Bank shares plummeted 10% to the lower circuit after the private lender slashed its return on assets guidance, blaming an uncertain global environment and intensifying competition for deposits.

The banking sector's volatility contrasts with resilience in autos, where Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company shares climbed 3-4%, and Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services surged over 5%. However, strong bottom-line numbers do not guarantee share price gains; a Tata Group stock dropped 2% despite an 18% jump in net profit to Rs 390 crore.

Today's energy sector results carry heightened geopolitical weight. Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) will detail their quarterly performance as Middle East tensions continue to elevate oil prices, a dynamic that threatens to squeeze refining margins.

In the consumer and technology space, attention will center on Eternal, the parent of Zomato and Blinkit. Analysts anticipate steady overall performance, driven by rapid expansion in quick commerce that is offsetting slower but increasingly profitable growth in food delivery.

Other notable reporters include Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Oracle Financial Services Software, and recently listed Waterways Leisure Tourism, which will post its maiden results as a public company.
