Compass Group secures £4.3bn in new business as Q3 revenue grows 7%

Compass Group's third-quarter organic revenue growth exceeded 7% as a 16% surge in new business wins to £4.3 billion reinforced investor confidence in the caterer's ambitious 2026 profit targets.

Compass Group posted organic revenue growth of more than 7% in its third quarter, holding client retention steady at 96%. Over the past 12 months, the contract caterer secured £4.3 billion in new business wins, representing a 16% year-over-year increase.

This pipeline momentum is critical for the London-listed company as it chases aggressive margin targets. Management reiterated its 2026 guidance for underlying operating profit growth above 11% in constant currency. Chief Executive Officer Dominic Blakemore said that this outlook relies heavily on the current combination of organic revenue expansion, strategic acquisitions and ongoing margin contributions.

Net new business growth has successfully accelerated back into Compass's 4% to 5% target range. Blakemore noted that the company remains on track to deliver more than £2.2 billion in net new business for the full year. Achieving this target would mark the fifth consecutive year of growth within that specific band.

A significant driver of this pipeline is market share expansion rather than just replacing lost contracts. Roughly half of the £4.3 billion in total wins came from clients outsourcing their catering needs for the first time. "We're demonstrating our ability to grow consistently at scale over the long term," Blakemore said.

The business and industry division continues to anchor performance, generating double-digit organic growth and over £2 billion in new wins. Petros noted that this strength was broad-based, spanning financial services, banking and attended vending, with about a third of those wins also originating from first-time outsourcers.

Beyond its core industrial markets, Compass is successfully diversifying its revenue base. Executives highlighted expanding growth opportunities in education, healthcare, sports and leisure. Notably, the company identified data centers as a particularly promising new vertical for future contract wins.

Looking ahead, management expects this new business momentum to further accelerate in the fourth quarter. This sustained demand indicates that structural tailwinds in the global outsourcing market remain intact. For investors, the third-quarter update confirms that Compass's sector-focused model is successfully translating broad client demand into predictable, long-term revenue streams.
