Bajaj Auto Profit Surges 42% as Exports Top 700K Units

Bajaj Auto's first-quarter profit jumped 42% to ₹2,983 crore as a weak rupee and record overseas shipments offset soaring input costs, demonstrating the pricing power and geographic diversification that has driven a 116% stock rally over three years.

Bajaj Auto posted a standalone net profit of ₹2,982.84 crore for the first quarter, a 42.3% increase from the year-ago period. Revenue from operations climbed 37% to ₹17,243.72 crore, driven by record quarterly sales volumes and stronger price realisations.

Total unit sales reached 1,438,251, representing a 29% year-on-year increase. While domestic demand grew 11%, the primary catalyst was international trade, with exports surging 54% to breach the 700,000-unit threshold for the first time.

The manufacturer highlighted geographic strength across its export markets. “Exports stood out and achieved its biggest ever quarter, with record revenues and volumes surpassing the 700K mark for the first time," the company stated, noting a "strong rebound in Africa" and "benchmark performance in LATAM" despite logistical bottlenecks in the Middle East and North Africa. Commercial vehicle exports grew roughly 70% year-on-year.

Operational efficiency improved alongside top-line growth. EBITDA rose 45% to ₹3,595.6 crore, pushing the margin up to 21% from 19.7%. Management attributed this expansion to a favourable USD/INR exchange rate, an upgraded product mix, and dynamic profit-and-loss management. These factors successfully absorbed what the company described as the significantly adverse impact of hyper-inflating input costs.

The stock market has consistently rewarded this operational leverage. Shares have gained 4% in the past month and 14% over six months, accumulating a 24% return over the last year and a 116% surge over three years. For market professionals, the results signal that Bajaj Auto is effectively navigating global supply chain disruptions and volatile commodity cycles without sacrificing profitability.

Management summarized the quarter's strategic takeaway. “Broad-based performance underpinned by double-digit growth on all fronts sustained despite a challenging / disruptive external context and bearing testament yet again to the company’s resilient and diversified business model,” Bajaj Auto said.
