South West Pinnacle Exploration jumps 9% on record order book and Q1 profit surge

Shares of the Indian exploration firm climbed after reporting a near tripling of quarterly profit and a record order book, signaling strong demand in the domestic mineral extraction sector.

South West Pinnacle Exploration (SWPEL) shares jumped approximately 9 percent in intra-day trading following the release of robust first-quarter fiscal 2027 results. The Indian mineral exploration company reported a 287 percent year-on-year surge in profit after tax, underscoring accelerating momentum in its core operations.

Consolidated revenue for the quarter ended June 2026 climbed 53 percent to ₹61.7 crore. Profit after tax reached ₹9.3 crore, up from ₹2.4 crore a year earlier, driving the PAT margin to 15 percent from 6 percent. EBITDA margins similarly expanded to 24 percent from 14 percent.

The stock hit an intra-day high of ₹257.40 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. This latest rally extends a broader upward trend, with the shares gaining 354 percent over the past five years and 68 percent over the last twelve months.

Record Order Book Drives Outlook

The financial results were underpinned by significant contract wins and an expanding project pipeline. SWPEL commenced work on its largest single order, a ₹307 crore project in Rajasthan, and secured a contract extension from Reliance Industries Ltd valued at over ₹166 crore.

Consequently, the company’s total order book reached an all-time high of ₹761 crore. Chairman and Managing Director Vikas Jain noted that this robust pipeline provides clear revenue visibility for the short to medium term.

"Recognizing our services, the clients are equally supportive and made our order book quite robust crossing over ₹761 crore mark giving clear visibility in short to medium term," Jain said. "We expect the trend will continue, strengthening it further in times ahead."

Beyond domestic contracts, SWPEL was empanelled by Oil India Ltd for onshore seismic data acquisition services. The firm also completed exploration work at its Jharkhand coal block and finalized an airborne survey through its second joint venture in Oman.

Management highlighted that increasing government emphasis on mineral exploration and self-reliance in critical minerals is generating substantial growth opportunities. To meet this rising demand, the company has already ordered new rigs and equipment.

The company also converted the remaining 75 percent of preferential warrants into equity shares during the quarter. It currently maintains 20 active operations across eight Indian states with zero lost-time injuries, reinforcing its operational reliability for institutional investors.
