Indian Equities Hold Key Support as Analysts Flag Six Breakouts
India's Nifty 50 index held a critical support level despite rising geopolitical risks, prompting technical analysts to identify six short-term buying opportunities.
India’s Nifty 50 closed down 0.39% at 24,238 on Monday. The benchmark touched an intraday low of 24,136 but stemmed its losses to hold the 24,200 support level.
The recovery suggests underlying buying interest remains intact, though the broader market remains vulnerable to escalating US-Iran tensions, volatile crude oil prices, and a weakening rupee. "Despite closing in the red on Monday, positive texture is still intact as prices are finding strong buying from lower levels. As long as prices are trading above 21-day EMA, which aligns near 24090, every dip close to that level will provide an opportunity to create fresh long positions," said Vishnu Kant Upadhyay, AVP- Research at Master Capital Services.
A decisive break below 24,080 would invalidate this bullish setup and could trigger a selloff toward 23,850. On the upside, the index faces stiff resistance in the 24,500 to 24,600 range.
Against this backdrop, analysts are identifying individual equities with strong momentum. Sumeet Bagadia of Choice Broking highlighted Sona BLW Precision, which has surged to multi-month highs. "Given this parabolic technical pattern, the stock remains poised to march higher toward the designated target of ₹784, while any minor cooling off should find support above the stop loss placed at ₹680," Bagadia said.
Bagadia also cited Colgate Palmolive (India), which broke through its 20, 50, and 100-day EMAs, targeting ₹2,320 with a stop loss at ₹2,010. He added Emcure Pharmaceuticals to his list, citing a reversal off the 50-day EMA. "The overall pattern strongly favours a bullish continuation, establishing a technical target of ₹2,045 while maintaining a strict stop loss at ₹1,770," he said.
Upadhyay pointed to structural breakouts in other sectors. Punjab National Bank reclaimed its key moving averages after breaking a falling trendline, with previous demand established between ₹99 and ₹100. Home First Finance Company confirmed an inverse head-and-shoulders pattern, bolstered by a bullish crossover of its 21 and 55 EMAs above the 200 EMA.
JSW Steel also drew Upadhyay's attention after resuming its primary uptrend. "Sustaining above the breakout zone reinforces the bullish outlook and suggests the potential for the ongoing uptrend to extend further," Upadhyay said. The six recommendations carry a one- to two-week horizon based purely on technical indicators.
