The United States (US) Consulate General in Lagos celebrated the topping off of its new diplomatic compound in Eko Atlantic City on October 6, marking the completion of the ten-story Chancery’s highest structural point. The project spans 12.2 acres and is injecting over $95 million into the local economy through local subcontractors, suppliers, and labor. Led by 120 Nigerian engineers, architects, and administrators alongside 43 American construction professionals, the project has trained more than 1,500 local workers to global construction standards. Brandon Hudspeth, US Consul General hosted the milestone event alongside Governor Sanwo-Olu, senior Nigerian government officials, diplomatic corps members, and business leaders. And with commerce at the heart of our priorities, no place in Africa is better positioned than Nigeria, with Lagos as its economic hub, to drive shared prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic.” Designed by New York-based Ennead Architects and constructed by Illinois-based Pernix International, the new campus will feature the main Chancery, public event spaces, and an expanded American Center for cultural programming.
